Mitsubishi Pajero 2027 Officially Returns — New Rival to Land Cruiser and Patrol
In January 2026, at the Tokyo Auto Salon, Mitsubishi Motors CEO Takao Kato officially announced the return of the Pajero — a legendary name in the off-road world that has been absent from global markets since production ended in 2021. This return isn't just a brand revival; it's a serious statement of intent to compete in the large 4WD segment against rivals like the Toyota Land Cruiser and Nissan Patrol. The official global reveal is scheduled for the second half of 2026, with the production version reaching showrooms by Q4 2026. Mitsubishi has confirmed the new Pajero will use body-on-frame construction — a return to its original off-road roots from 1982.
